Laser Therapy

Cowra Physiotherapy and Health Supplies are delighted to be able to offer our clients access to MLS Laser Therapy as the next part of our suite of services. We purchased our first machine, the MLS Mphi 5 Laser device (as depicted above) in 2019 and we have been amazed at the results we are getting. The research behind its use is strong and we are seeing this backed up in the cases we are seeing. It is the most impressive advance in treating a variety of conditions we have seen in our collective 60+ years of experience. To our knowledge there are no machines used in Physiotherapy clinics in Orange, Bathurst or the central west (due to cost mainly). There are conditions that have not responded to any other treatment that are responding to Laser therapy. All therapists at Cowra Physiotherapy and Health Supplies are competent in using Laser therapy as part of our treatment routines.

WHAT IS LASER THERAPY?

Safe, non-invasive and painless, this advanced technology is the result of more than 30 years of experience and innovation by ASA Laser. It is designed to treat the condition at the cellular level to promote healing and reduce inflammation without direct contact.

HOW DOES LASER THERAPY WORK?

The basic principles behind laser therapy are specific introduced wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation in the target tissue which causes changes in the cell to have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-oedema and accelerated healing effects. The purchased MLS Mphi 5 at our practice uses a 905 nM superpulsed emission for analgesia and accelerated healing effects coupled with the 808 nM continuous emission for an immediate anti-inflammation and anti-oedema effect and increased cell energy.

The MLS Mphi 5 enables a simultaneous double treatment: the handpiece (Target Area with a 2 cm diameter) acts on the pain points and trigger points while the Charlie multidiode applicator (Target Area with a 5 cm diameter) evenly activates large volumes of tissue, for example important muscle portions or entire joints.

WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?

Pre-treatment

All metal objects must be removed from the body prior to treatment e.g. watches, glasses, jewellery.

Safety glasses must be worn and the laser needs direct contact with skin.

Treatment

Fast treatment times – 3 to 10 minutes with the benefits often evident from first application.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Research suggests for lasting effects from MLS Laser you will likely require 3-6 treatments depending on how your condition responds. Often you will experience a noticeable improvement in both reduced inflammation and promoted healing after just 2 treatments.
